The non-God answer must be some form of “punctuated equilibrium”.
Evolution over much time by natural selection from a growing diversity of life forms does not work. Diversity formed
from Genetic adaptations and mutations is scientifically limited. Mutations have never been shown to advance a species,
partly because they are almost always harmful. Also, the Laws of Genetics use only the existing/available DNA.
The diversity needed by natural selection is not available. Regardless of the amount of time it has evolution by natural selection is a dead end.
Although there is no evidence for it, honest scientists must return to some form of “punctuated equilibrium”
to obtain the necessary change in developing life.
The God answer:
As God declares multiple times in Genesis 1: plant and animal life always reproduce “after its kind”.
Scientific testing verifies this. Life does not evolve.
The Laws of Genetics also verify this. Reproduction is bounded. Even species as similar as the dog and the cat cannot mate and produce viable offspring. Change happens within kinds,
but change within a kind can never cross its kind boundary.

Certainly, God’s other descriptions are accurate, and they give scientists a solid starting point.
Evolution might appeal to historical validation to ‘prove’ what must have happened … but should they not precisely verify
that the process they apply to history has worked at least once?)
